Westerner Mare Makes Bright Start For New Connections

Inion Tiogair (6m Westerner - Tiger Bay Lady, by Flemensfirth) led home a 1-2-3 for Coolmore NH sires in the mares’ bumper at Ludlow on Friday.

The daughter of Westerner finished second to the impressive Tina Meehan (Mahler) on debut for Mags Mullins in October, before joining the Grace Harris stable. Ridden by Conor Ring on her stable debut, she appeared to appreciate the softer ground at Ludlow and raced prominently throughout the two mile contest. Ridden inside the final furlong, she ran on well to win by two lengths, as Bethka (Walk In The Park) made a promising debut in second, while fellow newcomer Flying Fortune (Soldier Of Fortune) took third.

Owned by Foxhills Racing, Inion Tiogair is the first foal bred by Aidan Aherne out of dual winner Tiger Bay Lady (Flemensfirth). A full-sister to Inion Tiogair finished second on debut last season, while the mare has a four-year-old full-sister and three-year-old son of Milan yet to run.
