Arcadia Star (Pierro) winning at Ascot

Winning Debut for Arcadia Queen Sister

Hugely successful WA owner breeders Bob and Sandra Peters have had phenomenal success with the ‘Arcadia’ family and a winning debut for Arcadia Star (3f Pierro x Arcadia, by Redoute's Choice) on Wednesday might be the start of a new chapter in the story.

Talented prospect Arcadia Star stepped out in a 1200m maiden and the Michael Grantham trained filly forged clear to score a half-length win.

Arcadia Star is the eighth winner from nine foals to race from blue hen Arcadia, a winning full sister to stakes-winners Antique Belle and Broadway Belle, the dam of Group I winner Regal Power and Group II winner Action, who are both sired by Pierro.

Arcadia Star is a full sister to triple Group I winner and $3.9million earner Arcadia Queen and Group III winner Arcadia Prince and is a half-sister to Group II winner Arcadia Dream and stakes-winner Arcadia Rose.

Bob and Sandra Peters own nearly all of this family with many of the female members being bred to the best sires, although they did take the decision to sell Arcadia Queen at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2021 where she was purchased by Arrowfield Stud for $3.2million.

18-year-old Arcadia passed away earlier this month, but has two more foals in the pipeline to follow Wednesday’s winner Arcadia Star. She has two year-old Pierro colt Arcadia Knight and a yearling filly also by Pierro.

Standing this spring at a fee of $99,000, Pierro will have a runner in Saturday’s Group I ATC Golden Rose with classy filly Paris Dior set to take her place in first three year-old Group I race of the season.
