Yeats Curragh winner could be smart jumper

Trainer Patrick Prendergast believes that Tonton Macoute (3c Yeats-Champaka, by Caerleon) could be a bright jumping prospect after winning a competitive handicap at the Curragh on Saturday. Rick Barnes’ son of Yeats had won a maiden on his previous start before capturing this 10-furlong handicap, beating the useful John Constable. “He's by Yeats so he'll get two miles and running him at that mile and a quarter is like a sprint to him,” Prendergast told “He'll be running on those two miles races on the Flat and he also jumps well. This horse could be good fun as he is very slow to learn and is still improving.” Prendergast announced that Tonton Macoute was on the market after his previous victory and added “he is still for sale but he has gone dearer now!”
