Zoffany Filly Scores On Seasonal Return

Sunday saw the Stephanie Nigge-trained Fry (3f Zoffany - Floating Away, by Gone West) make a winning three-year-old return in the Prix de Pamperodine at Lyon.

Last seen in August when finishing third at Deauville, she stepped up to nine furlongs for the first time at the weekend, with 11 lining up for the maiden contest. Drawn wide, she broke well to lead under Theo Bachelot and was asked to quicken as they approached the turn for home. Driven out in the straight, she ran on well under pressure to deny Big Blue Sky by half a length.

Bred by Robert Ng, Fry was bought as a yearling by Stephanie Nigge on behalf of owner Gerard Augustin-Normand for €50,000. The daughter of Zoffany becomes the fourth winner out of her dam, a half-sister to six black-type horses, including Group 1 performer Bin Nashwan.
