A weanling half-sister by Henrythenavigator to champion mare Zenyatta made $1.5 million at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale to be the second highest priced weanling.
Consigned by Select Sales as agent, the filly from US Broodmare of the Year, Vertigineux was snapped up by Adena Springs.
“Physically, she looked great,” said Frank Stronach of Adena Springs.
“I liked the pedigree, I liked the sire, I liked the dam. She’ll stay at the farm here, or maybe go to Florida.”
Vertigineux has had five foals to race for four winners led by Zenyatta, who won 19 races and $7million in prizemoney, triple Group I winner Balance and stakes-winner Where’s Bailey.
The filly was sold on behalf of Australian breeder Ric Jamieson of Black Caviar fame, who purchased her privately from Coolmore along with her yearling full sister, who he has retained to race.
