A filly from the first crop of dual Grade I winner Verrazano made a real splash when sold for $230,000 at the Fasig-Tipton July Selected Yearling Sale on Tuesday.
Consigned by Runnymede Farm, the filly from She’s a Wow was bought by renowned pinhooker John Brocklebank.
“I just really liked her,” Brocklebank said.
“She made my heart thump and the kind like that has always worked for me in the past. I knew she was going to cost a little bit of money. And if you look at the page, you might not earmark it that high, but I think a lot of people, including this guy, thought she was one of the best fillies on the grounds.”
A brilliant winner of the Grade I Wood Memorial and Haskell Invitational, Verrazano also had a filly from Roots Run Deep that sold for $125,000 on Tuesday to Crupi’s New Castle 17.
