First Stakes-Winner for Scat Daddy

Scat Daddy achieved a milestone at the weekend when siring his first stakes-winner after talented colt Finale (2c Scat Daddy x Twinkle, by Lively One) blazed to victory in the Continental Mile at Monmouth.

The Todd Pletcher trained colt gave nothing else a chance as he relished the turf surface, powering clear to win the one mile contest by 10 and a half lengths in a thoroughly dominant display.

“He’s the kind of horse that makes you say, ‘Wow’”, said winning rider Joe Bravo.

“He gives off such confidence, and he backs it up with the way he runs. He ran away so easily today. He has a bright future.”

Raced by Mrs John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith, Finale has improved at every outing with two wins and a third placing from his four starts to date.

A $175,000 Keeneland November Weanling purchase, Finale is a half-brother to Grade III winner Bright One and is one of five winners from the good producer Twinkle.

A dual Grade I winning son of Johannesburg, Scat Daddy is currently the leading North American first season sire with eight winners to his credit.
