Gigantic Breeze Wins Grade Two

Progressive galloper Gigantic Breeze (4g Giant’s Causeway x Dixie and a Breeze, by Dixieland Band) has improved since being gelded and claimed his second successive Black Type win when taking out the $196,000 Grade II Autumn Stakes at Woodbine on Sunday.

Trained by Alexander McPherson, the son of Giant’s Causeway fought hard to the line to win the 1 and 1/16th mile contest by a length and has now won five of his past seven starts.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that every race is better than the preceding one, especially now,” said McPherson.

“He’s been on an upward [swing] right from his first start this year. He’s improved visually. Every race is better than the one before. Melmich (runner-up) is a really good horse. He’s a good, good horse.”

He has the overall record of six wins from 17 starts with prizemoney topping $380,000.

Gigantic Breeze is the first winner for Dixie and a Breeze, a half-sister to stakes-winners Venables and What a Breeze from Grade III winner Hope for a Breeze.
