Grade Three Win for Catch a Flight

Giant's Causeway head shot

A rising star in South America before his transfer to North America, Argentinian bred Catch a Flight (5h Giant’s Causeway x Callaia, by Lode) confirmed his potential with a stylish victory in the Grade III Precisionist Stakes at Santa Anita on Saturday.

A winner of six of his first 10 starts in Brazil, Catch a Flight is now with Richard Mandella and showed his class when forging clear to win this 1 and 1/16th mile contest by three-quarters of a length.

Catch a Flight has won eight of 14 starts earning over $270,000, but connections have bigger goals in mind.

“The GI Gold Cup [June 27] is the big target, maybe using the GII Californian [May 30] as a stepping stone,” said Mandella.

Catch a Flight is the best of four winners from Grade II placed Lode mare Callaia and is the 154th stakes-winner worldwide for Giant’s Causeway.
