Stakes Success for Giant Mare

A stakes-winner at two and three, Mississippi Delta (4m Giant’s Causeway x Texas to a Tee, by Purge) added another Black Type victory to her resume when taking out the $278,220 Kentucky Downs Ladies Sprint.

She powered clear to win the six and a half furlong sprint by a length and three-quarters, her fifth win from 13 starts with prizemoney topping $480,000.

“She shipped in from Woodbine in great shape,” said David Carroll, assistant to winning trainer Mark Casse.

“Mark felt like she runs well fresh and she also like the yielding course, which we got today. The last work was brilliant, she’s been on her toes all week and she’s been sitting on a big race. Florent (Geroux) rode her beautifully.”

Mississippi Delta is a three-quarter sister-in-blood to millionaire and multiple Graded winner Cowboy Cal.
