Well bred filly Wait Til Dawn (3f Giant’s Causeway x Path of Thunder, by Thunder Gulch) opened her Black Type account when taking out the $50,000 Ocala Suncoast Stakes at Tampa.
The Todd Pletcher trained filly has been steadily improving since her arrival in Florida and did a good job to snare her first stakes victory in a roughly run race.
Pushed wide in the straight by another runner, Wait Til Dawn recovered to power home and win the 1m and 40yd contest by half a length, her overall record now two wins and two placings from five starts.
“I just saw it as a very rough-run race,” said assistant trainer Michael Dilger.
“We’re glad she’s okay, and we’re happy with the result. Both her mother and her father got
better with age, and she seems to be doing the same. With her pedigree, she doesn’t seem to have much distance limitations.”
Raced by Michael Tabor, Wait Til Dawn is a full sister to Grade III winner Excited and is the second winner from stakes-winner Path of Thunder, a full sister to outstanding mare Spain, winner of the Group I Breeders Cup Distaff.
She is the 105th stakes-winner for her champion sire Giant’s Causeway.
