Grande Cuvee (3f Starspangledbanner - Medicean Star, by Galileo) gained a deserved first win when readily striking at Dundalk on Friday. The Fozzy Stack-trained filly had placed four times previously, including when a head second at Cork in August. She readily went one better when striding three and a quarter lengths clear of her rivals in the hands of Seamie Heffernan. Heffernan said: “She's a big filly and didn't run as a two-year-old because she was too weak. Maybe she's still weak this year and just kept running into one. “Today looked a very good opportunity, and we would have been disappointed if she had got beaten, but she actually won very well.” A full-sister to Listed winner Grande Marques, Grande Cuvee is a homebred for Michael Begley.
