$2.7Million for G1 Thousand Guineas Winner

Madame Pommery (No Nay Never) was foaled and raised at Coolmore and will be returning to Jerry’s Plains for the next phase of her life after being purchased for $2.7million at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale by Tom Magnier.

Madame Pommery only won two races for the Chris Waller stable, but one of them was the Group 1 MRC Thousand Guineas and that made the daughter of No Nay Never a hot commodity.

It was the second trip around the Gold Coast sale ring for Madame Pommery, who was bought by Waller Racing/ Mulcaster Bloodstock for $150,000 in 2021 from the Coolmore draft and it was Coolmore that had the winning bid on her this time around.

Madame Pommery was bought for a ladies syndicate put together by Chris Waller Racing’s Sophie Baker and the girls have certainly had a profitable ride. She won over $860,000 on the track and has now delivered the biggest pay day of all in the sale ring.

“She’s a lovely mare, we’ve obviously got a lot of No Nay Never fillies at home and they’re good producers,” Tom Magnier said.

“She was an unbelievable race filly, Chris Waller did a great job and Sophie Baker is a big help to our team and she’s a superstar and I was delighted for her and all her connections.”

Foaled and raised at Coolmore, Madame Pommery is a half-sister to Group III placed Moet Down and is the best of four winners from Godolphin bred Exceed and Excel mare Cancel, a full sister to Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes winner Earthquake.

Cancel was bought by Coolmore at this sale back in 2018 for $400,000 and remains in our broodmare band with her Wootton Bassett yearling colt selling for $260,000 at Inglis Easter this year to Waller Racing/ Mulcaster Bloodstock.

Cancel has a colt to follow by Home Affairs and is now in foal to St Mark’s Basilica.
