$2.7million Mare to Visit Home Affairs

Currently in training for a tilt at Royal Ascot, Coolmore owned dual Group I winning colt Home Affairs will retire to stud this spring and among the mares in his first book will be Shout the Bar, who was bought by Tom Magnier for $2.7million at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale.

A two time Group I winner by Not a Single Doubt, Shout the Bar has already won over $1.3million and will race on at the Brisbane Winter Carnival before a date this spring with Home Affairs.

“She’s a standout mare here,” said Magnier after the sale.

“A great bunch of people have bought this mare.

“We want to buy the best mares for Home Affairs.

“To get a mare like this is very exciting.”

The $2.7 million equals the prices paid for Funstar last year and Divine Madonna in 2008, while only seven mares have sold for more at auction in Australia – Unforgotten, Princess Coup, Arcadia Queen, Listen Here, Samantha Miss, Sunlight and Milanova.

Champion sire Fastnet Rock sired the second highest priced mare of the sale with Sia selling to Hilldene Farm/ James Bester Bloodstock for $1.6million. Sia is a full sister to Group III winner Ennis Hill and stakes-winners Lake Geneva and Acrobat, who stands his first season at Coolmore this spring.
