My Yankee Girl (American Pharoah) winning at Flemington

American Pharoah Filly a Good Investment

A half-sister to dual Group I winning sprinter September Run by American Pharoah, My Yankee Girl (3f American Pharoah x Pittsburgh Flyer, by Street Cry) is a filly on the up winning the $150,000 VRC Rivette Final (1400m) at Flemington on Saturday.

Trained by John Salanitri and ridden by Jye McNeil, My Yankee Girl powered home from back in the field to win by a long head taking her overall record to four wins and three placings from nine starts with prizemoney topping $227,000.

“We’re really, really happy, she’s been pretty consistent when we’ve found our niche with her and let’s just hope she can keep progressing forward from this,” said stable representative Frank Salanitri.

“The plan was to be midfield and not get too far out of her ground. It was a beautiful gate and she was always in the open where she’d be able to find her feet and hit the line strong late. The road ahead of her is bright.”

A $100,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Coolmore draft for Hirsch Racing, My Yankee Girl looks to have been very well bought and looms as a great investment for Eddie Hirsch being the second foal and second winner from Group III winning Street Cry mare Pittsburgh Flyer.

My Yankee Girl was bred by Go Bloodstock as they purchased her dam Pittsburgh Flyer for $500,000 at the 2108 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale when she was in foal to American Pharoah.

She has a yearling filly to follow by Merchant Navy that sold for $700,000 at Magic Millions this year when bought by Ciaron Maher Bloodstock/Best Bloodstock.

Triple Crown hero American Pharoah has shuttled to Australia for five seasons, but will remain in Kentucky this spring.
