American Pharoah’s Skygaze Wins G3 Maple Leaf Stakes

Triple Crown hero American Pharoah has been churning out stakes-winners this year in the Northern Hemisphere with progressive mare Skygaze (4m American Pharoah x Skyscape, by Marquetry) scoring a career best win in the Group III Maple Leaf Stakes ( 1¼ m ) at Woodbine on Saturday.

Already a stakes-winner this year, the Mark Casse trained mare was well fancied to win and ran up to expectation when powering clear to win by four and a half lengths.

Her overall record is now six wins and four placings from 13 starts with prizemoney in excess of $280,000.

A $300,000 Keeneland September Yearling Sale purchase, Skygaze runs for Tracy Farmer and is a half-sister to Group II winner Sky Cape and stakes-winner Sunny Skies being one of nine winners from terrific producer Skyscape.

American Pharoah is finishing off his fifth season at Coolmore Australia standing at a fee of $49,500.

American Pharoah has been in hot form this year siring 15 stakes-winners since January 1 headed by his Japanese Group I winner Café Pharoah and including his Australian Group III winner Head of State.
