Justify’s City Of Troy Named Cartier Horse of the Year
Justify’s City Of Troy (3c Justify x Together Forever, by Galileo) added two more championships to his resume on Wednesday night when he was named Cartier Horse of the Year and Champion 3-Year-Old Colt.
Named European Champion 2-Year-Old Colt last year, City Of Troy joins Frankel as the only two horses to win Cartier Two-Year-Old Colt and the Cartier Horse of the Year accolades in successive years.
After an undefeated campaign in 2023, City of Troy came back to win the Group I Epsom Derby in his second start this year. That kicked off three consecutive victories that also included a victory against his elders in the Group I Coral-Eclipse and a record-breaking victory in the Group I Juddmonte International. Showing his class, he lowered the course record set by Sea The Stars in the Juddmonte International.
He has even more in common with that runner than just breaking the track record – the duo is the only two to ever win all three races.
City Of Troy’s Grade I winning dam Together Forever has an Uncle Mo 2-year-old filly named Takemetothemoon, who holds entries to both the Group I Irish 1,000 Guineas and Group I Irish Oaks.
Together Forever is currently carrying a full sibling to City of Troy.
City of Troy retired to Coolmore Ireland for 2025, where he’ll stand for €75,000 in his debut season.
