Promising Randwick Winner for Rubick
It’s not easy for a three year-old to jump straight from a provincial maiden win to Benchmark 72 company at Randwick on Wednesday, but talented gelding El Buena (3g Rubick x For Lulu, by Fastnet Rock) made it look easy.
Justifying favouritism, the son of Rubick was strong to the line taking the 1300m contest by three-quarters of a length, taking his overall record to two wins and a placing from six starts with prizemoney topping $70,000.
Chris Waller put the polish on Rubick’s record breaking Everest winning son Yes Yes Yes, so is sure to get the best from El Buena as his career unfolds.
A $250,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Mulcaster Bloodstock / Waller Racing from the Coolmore draft, El Buena was bred by Colm Santry and is the first foal of For Lulu, a winning sister to Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes winner Catchy from Group II winner Cats Whisker.
For Lulu has a two year-old filly by American Pharoah (USA) that made $300,000 at Inglis Easter this year when snapped up from the Coolmore draft by Lindsay Park Racing / Andrew Williams Bloodstock and she has a yearling filly by the same sire to follow.
