Saxon Warrior Filly Strikes On Second Start

Francaise (2f Saxon Warrior - Stars So Bright, by Sea The Stars) built on last month’s promising debut to win the mile maiden at Lyon on Tuesday.

The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained filly finished fifth on debut, with the form boosted by the winner’s subsequent second in a Class 2, while the runner-up won next time out. Stepping up to a mile and one furlong on her second start, the bay made all of the running under Maxime Guyon and quickened after turning for home. Keeping on well under pressure, she denied a late challenge by a neck on the line, with another two lengths back to the third.

Bred by Sunderland Holding Inc, Francaise was cold by Derryconnor Stud at the Arqana Breeze-Up Sale for €115,000. The second crop daughter of Saxon Warrior is now owned by Joseph Lesguer, Free Man Racing, Ecurie Olivier Piraud and Ecurie R.E.
