Smart Debut Winner for Saxon Warrior
Set to have his first Australian runners next season, exciting young Deep Impact stallion Saxon Warrior had his second winner at Newmarket in the UK on Friday when Killybegs Warrior (2c Saxon Warrior x Alltherightmoves, by Namid) scored on debut at Newmarket.
Trained by Charlie and Mark Johnston, Killybegs Warrior raced on the pace in the 7f maiden and was much too good for the short priced favourite Self Praise, drawing clear to win by a length and a half.
Bought by Johnston Racing for 50,000 euros at Goffs Orby, Killybegs Warrior is a half-brother to stakes-placed Ventura Knight and is the fifth winner from Alltherightmoves, a half-sister to stakes-winners Alboostan and Crown of Light.
Killybegs Warrior is the second winner for Saxon Warrior, whose first Australian yearlings were well received selling for up to $400,000.
Saxon Warrior returns to Australia this spring at a fee of $19,250.
