Spring Stakes Prospect for So You Think

This time last year Thinkin’ Big was one of the most promising staying three year-olds in Sydney and 12 months on his three-quarter brother by So You Think looks like picking up where he left off.

Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, as was his older sibling before he was sold to Hong Kong, exciting gelding Just Thinkin’ (3g So You Think x Nothin' Leica Cat, by Tale of the Cat) resumed from a spell at Warwick Farm on Wednesday and scored a powerful length and a quarter win in the 1300 metre maiden.

Entered for the Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas, longer races are on the agenda for Just Thinkin’, who is a three-quarter brother to Group III ATC Gloaming Stakes winner Thinkin’ Big and also Group III winner Stampede.

“He’s a really impressive horse and an exciting one going forward,” said Adrian Bott.

“Gelding has been the real key to him taking shape as he’s just that bit heavier than his brother, although they are very similar in attitude and ability.

“He’ll follow a similar path now to what Thinkin’ Big did as we head towards the Spring champion Stakes and Victoria Derby.”

Retained to race by his breeder Peter Dunn of Dodmark Thoroughbreds, Just Thinkin’ is the third winner from three foals to race from Group I placed Tale of the Cat mare Nothin’ Leica Cat.

Nothin’ Leica Cat has a yearling colt by American Pharoah and is back in foal to the Triple Crown winner, who stands at Coolmore at a fee of $66,000.
