Starspangledbanner Colt Gets Off The Mark In Good Style

Happy Banner (2c Starspangledbanner – Lady Clinch, by High Chaparral) produced a likeable performance on his third start to win Wednesday’s seven-furlong novice stakes at Kempton.

A promising third last time out, the Ed Walker-trained colt showed the benefit of experience as he made all of the running under Hector Crouch. Shaken up to assert in the straight, he ran on well to beat the favourite by a length and a half, the pair quickening three lengths clear of the third.

Happy Banner was bought by Sackville Donald & Andy Lo on behalf of Lee Man Bun as a yearling for €230,000. The Starspangledbanner colt was bred by Chris Clinch out of a half-sister to black-type juvenile Hit That Review (No Nay Never) and the twice Grade 3 placed Sterling Crest (No Nay Never).
