Starspangledbanner Filly Brings 175,000gns At Tattersalls

Starspangledbanner provided one of the highlights of a strong second session at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale, where Roderick Kavanagh and Cormac O’Flynn’s RC Bloodstock gave 175,000gns for a filly from Newsells Park Stud.

“She’s a lovely filly and by a great stallion,” Kavanagh said of the late April foal. “The mare’s a proven producer too, and there might be a bit more to happen in the family with two good siblings to race on.

“Starspangledbanner has been lucky for us in the past and he’s obviously a thoroughly proven stallion. Hopefully she’ll come back here next October, Book 1 will be the plan.”

The filly’s dam, Zoella, has produced a Stakes horses, but Tuesday marked her best result in the sales ring. This filly is bred on the same cross as Group 1 performer Flotus (Starspangledbanner).
