Wootton Bassett Colt Lands Final French Stakes Of The Year
The progressive Presage Nocturne (4c Wootton Bassett – Kyurem, by Verglas) enjoyed a perfect end to the year when landing France’s final Stakes race of 2024, the Listed Prix Arcangues at Deauville.
Alessandro and Guiseppe Botti’s consistent charge placed on his first start at Group level in Spetember and was sent off favourite for Thursday’s feature. Settled towards the back of the field by Stephane Pasquier, the grey improved to chase the leaders as they turned for home and quickened to lead a furlong and a half out. The more experienced Goya Senora, twice a Listed winner and successful at Group 2 level, produced a strong challenge, but Presage Nocturne prevailed by a short neck on the line.
Bred by Haras de la Perelle, the son of Wootton Bassett is owned by his trainers with Paolo Zambelli, Madame Rana Khaddam, Carlo Pellegatti and Aksam Khaddam.
