Wootton Bassett Filly Sells for $160,000
The first Australian bred weanlings by proven G1 sire Wootton Bassett made a splash at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale this week where four youngsters averaged $108,750 and three sold for $100,000 or more.
His best result was a filly from Dark Heather that made $160,000 for Bhima Thoroughbreds when bought by New Zealand based pinhookers Carlaw Park.
A beautiful dark brown filly, she is from an unraced half-sister to brilliant Group II winner Heatherly, the dam of this season’s Group III winning juvenile Red Resistance.
Dark Heather was one of 169 mares covered by Wootton Bassett last spring.
Edinburgh Park also got a good result with their Wootton Bassett colt from Sun Valley that sold for $140,000 to Landsdowne Park/ Redwall Bloodstock.
