The pedigree patterns of success shown by the best progeny of Adelaide's sire Galileo are very helpful in predicting how Adelaide may work as a sire.
Mares carrying ROBERTO have worked beautifully with Galileo, producing twelve Group winners - five Group 1 winners - including four-time Group 1 winner Igugu and three-time Group 1 winner Found (both dams by INTIKHAB). Other damsires from this line include RED RANSOM, DR FONG, SILVER HAWK, DYNAFORMER, KRIS S (sire of BROCCO), AT TALAQ, SRI PEKAN, LEAR FAN and TOUCHING WOOD.
The STORM CAT line has experienced good success with Galileo, six at Group 1 level including Champion 2yo and 3yo, Churchill. Storm Cat can be sourced via mares by sires such as SCAT DADDY, SHAMARDAL, HENNESSY, TALE OF THE CAT, VAN NISTELROOY, JOHANNESBURG, MUKADDAMAH, GIANT'S CAUSEWAY and BLACK MINNALOUSHE.
As a grandson of Sadler's Wells, Adelaide should respond well to reinforcement of the GOODY TWO SHOES family. Apart from Sadler's Wells' brothers TATE GALLERY and FAIRY KING (sire of ENCOSTA DE LAGO, FALBRAV, SHINKO KING and HELISSIO) and three-quarter brother NUREYEV, influences in mares such as NORTHERN METEOR, THATCHING, GEIGER COUNTER, YEATS, INFLATE, PERUGINO, LORENZACCIO, VAL DE LOIR and OPEN DAY are appealing for Adelaide. ZABEEL mares not only carry Nureyev, they also have family member Val De Loir.
In support of the above suggestion of creating line breeding to GOODY TWO SHOES, five-time Group 1 winner New Approach is by Galileo out of a granddaughter of LORENZACCIO. Dual Group 1 winner Red Rocks has FAIRY KING as his second damsire. Closer to home, Australian Group 2 winner Sertorius is out of an ENCOSTA DE LAGO mare.
Mares from the NUREYEV line have also produced several top class racehorses by Galileo including Group 1 winner Rip Van Winkle (mare by STRAVINSKY); Champion 2016 Irish 2YO Rhododendron, Group 1 winners Hermosa and Hydrangea (all dams by PIVOTAL); and Together Forever (THEATRICAL).
The presence of three lines to Northern Dancer begs the inclusion of other ALMAHMOUD family members in mares, such as DANEHILL, HALO (sire of DON'T SAY HALO and grandsire of MORE THAN READY), MACHIAVELLIAN (sire of STREET CRY and VETTORI), CATRAIL, EL MOXIE and ARCTIC TERN. Dual Group 1 winner Red Rocks is out of a MACHIAVELLIAN mare.
Adelaide’s impressive 2YO winner and Group 1 prospect, Funstar is out of a DANEHILL mare and therefore inbred 4x3 to DANZIG. She is also inbred 5x5 to MILL REEF through a daughter and son (SHIRLEY HEIGHTS).
The ALMAHMOUD family has already experienced much success with Galileo. Mares by DANEHILL are responsible for producing World Champion, Frankel and seven-time Group 1 winner, Highland Reel. In total, 17 of Galileo's Group 1 winners are out of mares by Danehill or sons of Danehill. Amongst others, 2016 European Filly of the Year Minding is out of a DANEHILL DANCER mare; 4-time Irish Group 1 winning filly Winter is out of a CHOISIR mare; and Group 1 winner Johannes Vermeer is out of a HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR mare.
BLUSHING GROOM is present in the pedigrees of six Group 1 winners by Galileo, including multiple Group 1 winners Gleneagles, Noble Mission and Lush Lashes. Blushing Groom will also appreciate the presence of Nijinsky II in Adelaide, as they have a long history of affinity. Damsires carrying Blushing Groom include RAINBOW QUEST, QUEST FOR FAME, NASSIPOUR, FANTASTIC LIGHT, NOVERRE, REDDING, SPECTRUM, VISCOUNT and WAR PASS.
Mares by UMATILLA, BACHELOR DUKE, PAPAL POWER and TOUGH SPEED create a sex balanced duplication of their sire MISWAKI when mated with Adelaide.
Adelaide's damsire Elnadim is from the FALL ASPEN family. Desirable line breeding can be created by broodmares carrying fellow family members such as BIANCONI (a three-quarter brother to Elnadim), DUBAI MILLENNIUM, FORT WOOD, HAMAS, TIMBER COUNTRY, MEDAALY and CHARNWOOD FOREST.
Galileo's second damsire Lombard is from the family of VAGUELY NOBLE. He can be sourced via mares by NOBLE BIJOU, DAHAR, GAY MECENE, EXCELLER, VAL D'ARNO or NOBLE DECREE. Galileo’s Group 1 winner Niwot is out of a NOBLE BIJOU mare.
