Justify
Justify’s pedigree is beautifully balanced and carries a combination of strong line breeding and pattern clusters.
Justify has three repetitions of Mr Prospector / Nijinsky II crosses. These clusters add genetic weight to a mating. Further contributions of this nick can be accessed via mares carrying sires or damsires such as HUSSONET, TALE OF THE CAT, DISTANT MUSIC, ALL AMERICAN, HIGH YIELD, JADE ROBBERY and RUBIANO.
A proven nick with Mr Prospector (who appears four times in Justify’s pedigree) is DANZIG and his son DANEHILL, whose many successful sire sons and grandsons provide a great cross for Justify.
Other Danzig line sires which suit include WAR FRONT, ANABAA, INVINCIBLE SPIRIT (sire of I AM INVINCIBLE), SNAADEE, BERTOLINI, BIANCONI (and son NICCONI), CAPE CROSS, AD VALOREM, BELONG TO ME, CHIEF’S CROWN, ORPEN, DESERT SUN, HARD SPUN,PERUGINO (and son TESTA ROSSA) and LANGFUHR. War Front mares have the added advantage for Justify of carrying Rubiano, who is bred on a Mr Prospector / Nijinsky II cross (see above).
The four lines to Nijinsky II in Justify will work well with other TORPENHOW family members in mares. REDOUTE'S CHOICE, MANHATTAN RAIN, AL MAHER, RUBICK, SPINNING WORLD, TRY MY BEST (sire of LAST TYCOON), FAR NORTH, THE MINSTREL, HURRICANE SKY, MASTERCLASS, NEW REGENT, EL GRAN SENOR and GIELGUD appeal.
Justify’s dam is by Ghostzapper, who is out of a daughter of Relaunch. Mares by (or carrying) HONOUR AND GLORY, a son of Relaunch, create a sex balanced duplication.
Similarly, Ghostzapper’s sire Awesome Again is out of a daughter of Blushing Groom, inviting the introduction of his sons to provide balance. BLUSHING GROOM also works beautifully with Nijinsky II. Sons of Blushing Groom to look for in mares include ARAZI, CANDY STRIPES, RAINBOW QUEST (sire of QUEST FOR FAME and SPECTRUM), MT LIVERMORE, NASHWAN, NASSIPOUR, RAHY (sire of NOVERRE and FANTASTIC LIGHT) and RUNAWAY GROOM (grandsire of WAR PASS).
The six lines to Northern Dancer in Justify’s pedigree invite his close relation HALO. His sire line descendants include SOUTHERN HALO, SUNDAY SILENCE, MORE THAN READY, DON’T SAY HALO, FUJI KISEKI and SEBRING.
AL MAHER mares have several attributes to offer Justify, he being a son of Danehill out of a daughter of Don’t Say Halo and from the TORPENHOW family.
Justify’s third damsire Baldski is from the family of BROAD BRUSH, EXCELLER and CAPOTE. Capote’s son AGINCOURT stood in Australia.
Grandsire Johannesburg and second damsire Pulpit are both ALOPE family members sharing the taproot mare NARRATE. They are most closely related to TALE OF THE CAT and MINARDI. Other family members to seek to reinforce this line further back include ROUND TABLE (damsire of SIR TRISTRAM), KNOWN FACT, DOUTELLE, FOXLAW, ALCIDE, ATAN, POMPEII COURT (damsire of STARCRAFT), MUKDDAAM and SONG OF TARA.
