A Thousand Reasons Continues Successful Day for Munnings

A Thousand Reasons (3f Munnings x Overboard, by Stormy Atlantic) completed a three-winner day for Munnings on Friday night when racing away to win by three lengths and register her third career victory in five starts.

Following runaway victories by Spicy Meatballs and Super Patriotic at Laurel and Woodbine, A Thousand Reasons lined up in the five furlong dirt race under the lights at Delta Downs. The big blazed filly darted out to challenge the leaders after a slow start from the gate and had the lead by the time the field headed into a heavy fog shrouding the track.

Much like Spicy Meatballs when he emerged from the fog earlier in the day, A Thousand Reasons had a sizable lead when she came into view and it only got bigger in the final sixteenth before the wire. The filly won by three lengths as the favorite for owner Maggi Moss and trainer Tom Amoss with Diego Saenz aboard.

Munnings' three victors on Friday won their races by a combined 17 1/4 lengths.

Bred by Alex and Kendra Penn, the filly has proven to be a force at Delta Downs with three victories and a third from four starts at the track. She was purchased by Maggi Moss for $80,000 from the Penns at the 2017 Keeneland September Sale and is one of seven winners out of her dam Overboard, who also has a Lookin At Lucky yearling filly.

Overboard is a half-sister to Grade II winner and multiple Grade I placed Sovereign Kitty and the dams or granddams of eight other stakes horses.

Munnings crossed with Storm Cat granddaughters has proven to be extremely successful with four stakes horses and 37 winners for a 71 percent win rate from 52 runners, led by Grade II winners Om and Catalina Red.
