Another G1 for Amazing Mastercraftsman filly
Sir Robert Ogden’s home-bred Amazing Maria (4f Mastercraftsman-Messias Da Silva, by Tale Of The Cat) confirmed herself one of Europe’s best fillies of 2015 when seeing off a top-class field to win the G1 Prix Rothschild at Deauville on Sunday.
The David O’Meara-trained filly had already won the G1 Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket and G2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes this season before heading to France.
Partnered by Olivier Peslier, she came with a decisive run in the final furlong to beat dual G1-winning three-year-old Ervedya by a length and a quarter.
“She was unbelievable today,” O’Meara told TDN. “She is obviously a very good filly. There was probably some doubt about whether she was truly a G1 filly after Ascot, but she’s done it again twice since then and you’d have to say she’s among the best fillies in Europe now.”
Peslier, who won the race four times aboard Goldikova, was similarly full of praise for his mount, adding: “She lives up to her name. I had hardly moved on her two furlongs out and when she was in the clear and I asked her she quickened and did it very easily. Obviously, she is an improving sort and I’d imagine she is not at the end of the line yet as that was a very convincing victory which brought back great memories.”
