Australia Colt Remains Unbeaten In Chesham Stakes
Saturday saw impressive Curragh maiden winner Point Lonsdale (2c Australia - Sweepstake, by Acclamation) provide Aidan O’Brien with back-to-back wins in the Listed Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Racing in midfield under Ryan Moore, the bay was asked to quicken from two furlongs out and ran on well to deny Reach For The Moon by half a length. Great Max (Wootton Bassett) took third, just nine days after making a winning debut.
Speaking after the race, O’Brien said, “He's very smart and if all goes well, you'd like to think he'll be a Guineas horse.”
Bought by MV Magnier as a yearling for 575,000gns, Point Lonsdale is owned by Derrick Smith, Mrs John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Westerberg. Bred by Epona Bloodstock, the exciting two-year-old is a full-brother to multiple Group winner Broome (Australia), who finished second in the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes later on Saturday’s card.
