Australia Filly Races Clear To Maiden Victory
The well-bred Quickstep Lady (3f Australia - Strictly Dancing, by Danehill Dancer) ran out an impressive winning favourite of Friday’s seven furlong novice stakes at Goodwood.
Placed on her three previous starts this season, the Andrew Balding-trained bay was reunited with Oisin Murphy, who rode her to make all. Pushed along from two furlongs out, she ran on well and went clear approaching the final furlong, winning by five and a half lengths on the line.
The winning jockey later commented, “Quickstep Lady deserved to win by now and this was a good opportunity. Hopefully she can progress now she's won.”
Owned and bred by JC Smith of Littleton Stud, Quickstep Lady is a granddaughter of Nunthorpe Stakes heroine Lochangel. The daughter of Australia is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Dancing Star and Stakes performer Foxtrot Lady.
