Back-to-Back G3 Wins for Mo Town Filly

It was a second straight Grade III win for Play The Music (4f Mo Town x Hey Little Sister, by Jump Start) on Saturday when she won the Grade III Royal North Stakes at Woodbine.

The Mark Casse trainee was quick out of the gate in the 6 ½ furlong race before settling a few lengths off a keen leader. Sticking to the rail around the turn, Play The Music had a hole open in front of her in the stretch and took advantage as they reached the final furlong.

There was no competition for the win once she got through on the rail with the nearest runner 2 ¼ lengths behind.

Play The Music is now the winner of six of 13 starts with four other top three finishes for $401,037 in earnings with three stakes victories in four starts at the level.

The filly owned by Glassman Racing was a $300,000 OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds purchase by her racing owner after selling for $110,000 as a yearling.

Bred by Laura McKinney, Play The Music is one of seven winners out of the Jump Start are Hey Little Sister. Hey Little Sister is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Smoke It Right.

Stakes winners run in the family with Play The Music’s third dam producing Grade III winner Road Rush and stakes winner Falkenburg.

It has been a huge spring for Mo Town, who has sired five stakes winners and seven stakes performers since April 1. Among those is also the Grade III winning Mystic Lake.
