Back To Back Molecomb Stakes Wins For No Nay Never
Trillium (2f No Nay Never - Marsh Hawk, by Invincible Spirit) continued a terrific season for No Nay Never’s latest crop of two-year-olds when landing the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes in record time.
The Richard Hannon-trained filly shaped with great promise at the track on debut, when finishing second and drawing seven lengths clear of the rest of the field. An impressive maiden winner on her next start, Rockliffe Stud’s homebred was the sole filly to line up for the five furlong sprint on Wednesday.
Held up by Pat Dobbs, she was shaken up approaching the final furlong and showed a smart turn of foot to lead from 110 yards out, going on to score by a length and a quarter.
Richard Hannon, who won last year’s running with Armor (No Nay Never), later said, “Trillium has always been a lovely filly. We will look at the Prix Morny and Ed Sackville mentioned the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint. I would love to think she is a filly for next year.”
No Nay Never’s current crop of juveniles also includes three-time Stakes winner Blackbeard (No Nay Never), whose Group 2 Prix Robert Papin victory came in two-year-old track record time, and dual Stakes winner Little Big Bear (No Nay Never). His two-year-old fillies include Meditate (No Nay Never), whose unbeaten record includes two Group 3 wins.
