Sir Dragonet Becomes The Latest Winner By Camelot

Beautifully Bred Camelot Colt Impresses On Debut

Sir Dragonet (3c Camelot - Sparrow, by Oasis Dream) breezed to success on an impressive racecourse debut, coming home an easy three length winner of the three-year-old maiden at Tipperary on Thursday.

Racing over a mile and a half, the Aidan O’Brien-trained colt was ridden to chase the leaders by Seamie Heffernan and began to creep forward in the straight. Travelling well two furlongs from home, he led approaching the final furlong and quickened clear with minimum fuss.

O’Brien later commented on the winner, “A horse with a pedigree like that could be anything. He is in the King Edward Stakes in Ascot and we'll see where we go.”

O’Brien knows Sir Dragonet’s family well, with as well as training his sire, he also trained his dam to finish third at Group 3 level and her half-sister to finish second in the Epsom Oaks to Dancing Rain (Danehill Dancer). He also trained the second dam All Too Beautiful (Sadler’s Wells) and her siblings, the great Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) and dual Group 1 winner Black Sam Bellamy (Sadler’s Wells).
