Ritournelle (Camelot) Wins The Listed Prix Herod at Saint Cloud

Black-Type Camelot Filly Sells For €450,000

Stakes winner Ritournelle (3f Camelot - Robanne, by Paco Boy) gave connections cause for celebration on Saturday when selling for €450,000 at the Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale.

Justin Casse signed for the daughter of Camelot, who had been trained by Jerome Reynier for Jean-Claude Seroul, Haras d’Etreham and Riviera Equine Sarl. She won a Listed contest at the end of last season and was narrowly denied in a Group 3 on her three-year-old return. The bay added a black-type update to the catalogue when claiming runners-up honours in a Listed race last month.

At Sha Tin the next morning, Luxembourg (4c Camelot - Attire, by Danehill Dancer) was beaten the shortest of margins by Romantic Warrior in the Group 1 Hong Kong Cup. Aidan O’Brien’s charge was last seen finishing second to Auguste Rodin in the Group 1 Irish Champion Stakes, while he gained his third Group 1 win earlier this season in the Tattersalls Gold Cup.

Camelot has enjoyed a super season, led by Los Angeles’ Group 1 success in the Criterium de Saint-Cloud. The unbeaten juvenile became an 11th top-flight winner by the Coolmore Stud sire.
