Broome (Australia) Wins The Group 1 Grand Prix De Saint Cloud

Broome Makes All To Deserved Group 1 Victory

Broome (5h Australia - Sweepstake, by Acclamation) made all to gain a deserved Group 1 success in Sunday’s Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.

Coming into the race with five Stakes wins to his name, the Aidan O’Brien-trained bay was partnered by Colin Keane in the mile and a half contest. Quickening from over two furlongs out, he kept on well to win by a length.

Speaking after the race, Keane commented, “He prick his ears, galloped right to the line and deserved it. He's been very consistent this year and it was nice to get the Group 1 beside his name.”

Broome’s first trip to France resulted in a narrow defeat in the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere, and he would come close to top-level success in the Epsom Derby the following summer, while a more recent effort was being headed on the line in the Tattersalls Gold Cup.

Bred by Epona Bloodstock, the 150,000gns yearling purchase is owned by M Matsushima, Mrs John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith. The own-brother to unbeaten juvenile Point Lonsdale (Australia) becomes a fourth individual Group 1 winner by Australia.
