Brentford Hope (Camelot) winning his maiden on debut at Newmarket

Camelot Colt Produces Taking Display On Debut

The Richard Hughes-trained Brentford Hope (2c Camelot - Miss Raven, by Raven’s Pass) made an impressive debut in Wednesday’s ten furlong maiden at Newmarket.

Jamie Spencer rode the bay towards the back of the field and began to make headway as they approached the three furlong marker. Despite being carried right by the leader, he asserted over a furlong out and ran on well to win by five lengths.

The delighted winning trainer commented after the race, “In the last month the pace Brentford Hope started showing me was unbelievable. I knew he'd stay, but with the pace he was showing me lately, I thought he must be a good horse.”

Hughes bought Brentford Hope at the Arqana Breeze-Up Sale for €130,000 on behalf of owners Bernardine and Sean Mulryan. The son of Camelot was bred by Haras Du Logis St Germain out of a half-sister to Beautiful Romance, a Group winner in Australia, Britain and Dubai.
