Uncle Mo Colt Brings $400,000 at Keeneland January

Uncle Mo had a second straight session leader on Wednesday when his short yearling out of Red Sashay sold for $400,000 to Springhouse Farm early in the third session at Keeneland January.

Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, the colt bred by Mike Abraham is the second foal for stakes winning Red Sashay. The mare is one of three stakes winners for her dam, who also produced Group III winner Shamaal Nibras and Listed winner New Edition.

"To me he was the nicest foal on the grounds," Springhouse Farm’s Gabriel Duignan told Blood-Horse. "Uncle Mo couldn't be any hotter; great sire. That's a lot of money but he's a real horse. You're always going to have to pay a lot for a horse like him."

The colt has all the tools to be successful, hailing from the family of a strong group of graded stakes winners including Grade II winners Halory Hunter, Seahenge, and International Star.

A top sire year after year, Uncle Mo is responsible for the most expensive mare and colt at the Keeneland January Sale so far after 4-year-old filly Enaya Alrabb brought $640,000 late in the day Tuesday to top both the session and the sale.
