Corniche Weanlings Set For November Sales
Champion 2-Year-Old Colt Corniche is set for a busy few weeks at the November sales this month with 22 weanlings from his first crop offered at Fasig-Tipton and Keeneland.
The sales start Monday at 2PM where Corniche sees two entered at Fasig-Tipton with Hip 59 his first through the ring.
Offered by Eaton Sales, that filly is a half-sister to four stakes performers from nine winners out of Agreeable Miss. A Speightstown daughter, Agreeable Miss’s runners include stakes winner Alkaraama and stakes winner and Grade I-placed Mark of Approval. She’s the latest in a long line of stakes producers with each of her three dams shown on the page earning blacktype themselves.
This page is led by Grade I winner Vasilika and Grade II winner Sweet and Ready among others.
Havens Bloodstock-consigned Hip 138 comes into the ring with an update after his 2-year-old half-brother by Caravaggio won after the catalog was released.
That takes his dam Legendary Peace’s count to five winners from six to race with those including champion Modernistic, Grade III-placed Siding Spring, and the stakes placed Fayette Warrior. Legendary Peace is a half-sister to Grade I winner Ermine and stakes winner White Clover with White Clover also producing the stakes placed Velvet Crush.
Legendary Peace is a ninth-generation stakes producer with four of those mares also earning their own blacktype.
Moving over to the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale the following day, Corniche sees 20 weanlings sell through the first seven sessions.
The first to go through the ring at that sale is Hip 156, a Valkyre Stud-offered filly out of Crossing The Tape.
That mare is the dam of two winners from three to race with that group including the stakes winning Life Mission. Crossing The Tape was a winner on the track and is also a half-sister to Grade I winner Gabby’s Golden Gal and Grade II winner Always a Princess with a third mare producing Grade I winner Locked.
This filly is bred on the same Quality Road x Johannesburg cross as the stakes winning Coalinga Road and one other winner from two to race. Quality Road sons have sired two stakes winners from five runners on the cross, led by Butterbean.
A half-sister to the stakes winning Just Read It sells as Hip 308 through Taylor Made as agent for Prime TBs and Alliance Bloodstock.
Their dam Mybrokenhome is a winning full sister to the stakes winner and Grade III-placed Pool Winner and to the multiple stakes placed dam of Munnings’ multiple Grade II winner and Grade I-placed Venetian Harbor. This filly’s fourth dam is the champion Safely Kept, who also produced two stakes winners of her own among her eight winners from 10 to race.
Corniche’s sire Quality Road is the sire of two stakes winners from four runners out of Broken Vow mares, including the Grade III winner Lonely Road.
Hip 330 already had stakes form under her first dam with Peace Opportunity producing multiple stakes winner First Peace, but that got even stronger after the catalog was released. A multiple graded stakes placed runner before the catalog, First Peace went even better in the Grade II California Crown Eddie D Stakes with a victory.
He isn’t the only graded stakes winner on the page with Tower of Texas and Street Sounds both winning Grade IIs while Silver Highlight was a stakes winner and Grade III placed as well. In all, First Peace is one of 12 stakes performers under the three dams on this page with seven winning at the stakes level.
Corniche is the sire of Hip 389, a Legacy Bloodstock consigned colt out of Southern Strike.
Southern Strike has produced six winners from nine to race with those runners including the stakes winner Fila Primera and stakes placed Mozlzil. Film Primera is also the dam of the Grade I placed Saucy Lady T while an unraced half-sister produced Grade II placed Step Forward.
This colt’s page is full of strong runners with his granddam Promenade Colony producing Grade II winner Promenade Girl and Datts Awesome, who both won stakes and are stakes producers. Promenade Girl is probably best known as the dam of Grade I winner Cavorting and granddam of multiple Grade I winner Clairiere, but she also produced Uncle Mo’s Grade II winner Moon Colony. Dattts Awesome produced a stakes performer while two other half-sisters produced stakes performers as well.
A full sister to Grade I winner Bolo is the dam of the Crestwood Farm-consigned Hip 6333.
This is the third foal out of that unraced Temple City mare, who is also a half-sister to stakes winner Build to Suit and Grade III placed Let Me Go First. Their dam Aspen Mountain has her own successful siblings with half-sister Golden Sunray not only winning stakes but also producing two stakes performers.
Meanwhile, half-sister Mining My Own produced Grade I Kentucky Derby winner and Canadian champion Mine That Bird and multiple Grade I winner Dullahan in addition to stakes winner Mine That Star among six winners.
Penn Sales sends Hip 823 through the ring for Corniche, the second foal out of Triangle Park.
Placed on the track, Triangle Park comes from a big producing family as a daughter of the multiple stakes winning Capilano. Capilano produced five stakes performers with three of her stakes winners going on to produce stakes performers. One of those is Madeira Park, whose Grade II winning daughter Sugar Fish added a second Grade II to the tally with a win in the Zenyatta Stakes.
Others under Triangle Park’s sisters’ names include Grade III winner Blended Citizen and stakes winner and Grade I placed Battlefield Angel. In all, there are 13 stakes performers under this colt’s second dam alone.
The first Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale session starts at 1:00pm with the rest of the sessions taking place at 10:00am daily.
