Crystal Ocean Provides Top Filly On Day 2 Of Goffs
A daughter of Crystal Ocean became the highest-priced filly on the second day of the Goffs December NH Sale when knocked down to Nicky Bertrand de Balanda for €62,000.
The French-based agent revealed his purchase was made on behalf of Sofiane Benaroussi. “He is looking to buy very nice fillies to race and then breed from and that is the plan with this foal. She is a gorgeous filly physically and from a good family that has a little bit of France and a little bit of Ireland in there. We are very happy to have her.”
The May-born filly was offered by Rathmore Stud on behalf of Cyril Crowe and Mags Melody’s Ballykilty Farm.
Later in the session, Kieran Shields went to €50,000 for Conna Stud’s Crystal Ocean colt. He is out of the winning Getaway mare Cheryls Dream, whose Crystal Ocean colt sold for €75,000 at the same venue two years prior.
Both foals hail from the third crop of world champion racehorse Crystal Ocean. The Beeches Stud sire’s first foals sold for up to €120,000, while his second crop fetched up to €75,000. Buyers have included Kevin Ross, Aiden Murphy, Oaks Farm Stables, Ian Ferguson, Timmy Hillman, Peter and Ross Doyle, Redpender Stud, Brown Island Stables, Lakefield Farm and JC Bloodstock.
