Cupid Well Represented at OBS June

Only days after seeing his first runner miss a win by only a head at Churchill Downs on debut, Cupid has 15 juveniles from his first crop set to go through the ring at the OBS June 2-Year-Old Sale this week.

Breezing in :10.1, a colt out of Charming Becky was among Cupid’s leaders at the Under Tack Show and is one of his first through the ring. There are winners throughout the page with his granddam also a half-sister to Grade I winner Mandy’s Gold and stakes winner Matula with Mandy’s Gold also producing a stakes-placed runner.

The colt also comes from the family of champion Gallant Bob and is bred on the same cross as four of Tapit’s graded stakes winners led by Mohaymen and Pauline’s Pearl, Grade III winner By Your Side is also by a Tapit son out of a Dixie Union mare.

Also breezing in :10.1 for Cupid was a colt named Twokidsfromdabronx. Offered by Coastal Equine as Hip 457, the $200,000 Keeneland September Yearling graduate is a three-quarter brother to Grade III-placed Quick Release and three other winners out of his Distorted Humor dam. That mare is a granddaughter of champion Safely Kept, who saw Venetian Harbor win the Grade II Monrovia for Munnings on Saturday.

Sons of Tapit bred to Distorted Humor mares have sired seven stakes performers. Tapit’s own Grade I winner Constitution is also bred on the cross – that stallion is also the sire of Cupid’s multiple Grade I winning stablemate Tiz The Law.
