Cupids Crush Wins Curtis Sampson Oaks
It was a third consecutive victory and first career stakes victory for Xtreme Racing Stables’ Cupids Crush (3f Cupid x Dazzlingsweetheart, by Dazzling Falls) on Wednesday night with a victory in the Curtis Sampson Oaks.
Cupids Crush bolted to the lead early in the one-mile turf race and spent the early part in the two path before moving closer to the rail as another horse pressured her down the backstretch. Keeping her head in front around the turn, she dug in down the stretch and was able to pull away late to win by a length.
Trained by McLean Robertson, Cupids Crush has won four of her six starts and her only finish outside the top two was a third place finish in the Northern Lights Debutante Stakes as a juvenile. She is now the earner of $171,800 with $132,000 of that coming this season.
Bred by Mary and Eric Von Seggern and Barry and Joni Butzow, Cupids Crush is one of two foals of racing age out of the stakes winning Dazzlingsweetheart. That mare is a half-sister to the stakes placed Blumin Sweeheart with each of Cupids Crush’s first three dams all winning or placing in stakes.
Cupid’s 95 worldwide winners include six stakes winners and 10 stakes performers, led by the Grade II winner and Grade I Kentucky Oaks placed Desert Dawn.
