Bella Bliss (Getaway) Wins The Mares Maiden Hurdle At Sligo

Daughter Of Getaway Gains Deserved Win In Fine Style

Bella Bliss (5m Getaway - Izabelle Amie, by Croco Rouge) gained a deserved success on Wednesday, when running out a commanding winner of the Mares’ Maiden Hurdle at Sligo.

Runner-up in a bumper last season, the John McConnell-trained mare picked up prize money on all of her previous starts over hurdles and was sent off favourite to get off the mark at Sligo. Leading for much of the way under Brian Hayes, she was pushed clear from the second last and was eased down on the run-in to win by seven lengths.

“She was due that,” the winning trainer said after the race. “She'd been very unlucky the time before and probably came up against a decent horse the last day. She has plenty of ability and will probably be a better chaser.”

Bella Bliss is owned by Claire Wylie and was bred by William Mangan.
