Smiling Getaway (Getaway) Wins The Four Year Old Mares Maiden At Loughanmore

Daughter Of Getaway Proves A Highlight At Cheltenham Sale

Smiling Getaway (4f Getaway - One More Cookie, by Old Vic) became the most expensive filly sold at Friday’s Tattersalls Cheltenham Sale when knocked down to James and Jean Potter for £235,000.

After outbidding Harold Kirk, James Potter commented, “As soon as my daughter, Debbie, and I saw her we both absolutely loved her. She moved so well and I think the point-to-point she won was strong.” On future plans, he added, “he's a lovely young filly though and the beauty of having the stud at Yorton Farm is that fillies like her have their place after racing. She's going to be trained by Dan Skelton so he'll take her home from here tonight and assess her, then we'll work on a plan after that.”

Bred by Rowland Crellin, Smiling Getaway made an impressive debut for Donnchadh Doyle last month, when drawing ten lengths clear at Loughanmore.
