Nos Na Gaoithe (Yeats) Wins The Mares Bumper At Sligo

Daughter Of Yeats Makes Taking Debut For Mullins

Connections may seek black-type for Nos Na Gaoithe (4f Yeats - Peggy Cullen, by Presenting), after the Willie Mullins-trained bay made a winning debut in Thursday’s mares’ bumper at Sligo.

Sent off favourite for the two mile and two furlong contest, she raced towards the back of the field in the early stages and improved to chase the leaders two furlongs from home. Leading a furlong later, she kept on well despite signs of inexperience and led by two lengths and three quarters on the line. Diamondinthemud (Getaway) completed a 1-2 for Coolmore NH sires.

Speaking after the race, winning rider Patrick Mullins said, “The further she went, the better she got. The Listed mares' bumper at Gowran in October could be a possible target, unless Willie wants to go jumping with her.”

Owned by Syndicates Racing, the daughter of Yeats was bred by Killian Traynor and is a half-sister to her trainer’s top chaser Rathvinden.
