Law Ella (Yeats) Wins The Mares Bumper At Down Royal

Daughter Of Yeats Storms Clear On Debut

While Gavin Cromwell was celebrating Grade 1 glory with Flooring Porter (Yeats) at Cheltenham, his newcomer Law Ella (5m Yeats - Brogarais, by Presenting) ran out an impressive winner of the mares’ bumper at Down Royal.

Thomas Ward’s homebred travelled strongly throughout under Joey Dunne, who asked the bay to challenge approaching the final furlong. Soon in front, she drew clear to win by six and a half lengths, while One Cool Lady (Flemensfirth) finished eight lengths clear of the third.

Dunne had been expecting a smart performance and later said, “She showed us that at home, her work was fairly good and she's a really well-bred Yeats mare, and is big and scopey. She'll be better again on softer ground.”
