Echo Town Filly Makes Easy Work of Debut
Only days after seeing his first winner Three Echoes finish third in the Tremont Stakes, Echo Town registered a second winner with Sipping Firewater’s (2f Echo Town x Cute Cash, by Exchange Rate) debut victory at Prairie Meadows.
Sipping Firewater was just a step behind another horse out of the gate in the 4 ½ furlong race, but quickly engaged that one in a duel for the lead. The sprint saw those two eying each other around the turn before the Echo Town daughter was able to put her rival away at the top of the stretch.
Feeling the whip for just one tap, Sipping Firewater sprinted away to win by a convincing three lengths.
Breeder, trainer, and co-owner David McShane has been joined by West Stables in the filly’s racing ownership and is one of three winners from five to race out of Cute Cash. Cute Cash is a half-sister to Grade III-placed Tesseron and out of the stakes winning Cute Cognac.
A granddaughter of Grade III winner and successful broodmare Adorable Micol, Cute Cognac is also out of a mare who produced multiple stakes winners and saw her daughters and granddaughters do the same.
Echo Town’s first runners have shown plenty of promise with four of his first five runners placing at least once.
