Establish Continues Fine Month For Australia
The Roger Varian-trained Establish (3c Australia - Azenzar, by Danehill Dancer) overcame a troubled passage to win Thursday’s Novice Stakes at Bath.
Twice placed over seven furlongs as a juvenile, the A D Spence-owned colt was sent off favourite for the mile contest. David Egan rode the chesnut to chase the leaders and asked him to quicken with over two furlongs left to race, but soon became short of room. Squeezing through horses approaching the final furlong, he led close home to win by a neck.
Bred by Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar, Establish becomes the first winner out of Azenzar, herself out of a half-sister to Alexander Goldrun. He continues a strong run by the progeny of Australia, who have notched three Stakes successes this month alone, led by Leo De Fury’s impressive Group 2 win in the Mooresbridge Stakes.
