Established Coolmore Sires Prove Popular At Tattersalls

While first crop Coolmore Stud sires Caravaggio, Churchill and Highland Reel made a bright start at the Tattersalls Foal Sale, their more established counterparts continued to prove popular in the sales ring.

No Nay Never was crowned champion first season sire in 2018 and built on his tremendous success this year with a host of group winners including Gr.1 July Cup winner Ten Sovereigns. It therefore came as no surprise to see his foals in demand last week, rewarding breeders who bred from a covering fee of €25,000 last Spring.

The Mastercraftsman mare Great Court gave consignors Tweenhills Farm cause for celebration, when her first foal by No Nay Never sold for 200,000gns to Hunday Bloodstock. They were not the only ones to enjoy profitable sales with the first foals out of their mares, as Stringston Farm sold their No Nay Never colt out of Foreign Assignment (Mastercraftsman) for 115,000gns to Grove Stud, while Norelands Stud received 130,000gns for their colt out of Madam Baroque.

Stringston Farm also enjoyed a successful sale with their Gleneagles half-sister to dual Group winner Treasuring (Lot 885), who fetched 110,000gns from BBA Ireland. The farm are keen supporters of promising first season sire Gleneagles, having sold a filly from his first crop for 240,000gns.

Camelot was another to enjoy a profitable week at Park Paddocks, where his highest-priced offering was a colt offered by Mill House Stud. The late April foal is out of Stakes performer Homepage and was knocked down to Camas Park Stud for 105,000gns.

Each year, Zoffany produces a star performer and in 2019, Albigna flew the flag with an impressive Group 1 success in the Prix Marcel Boussac. Another talented daughter of Zoffany is Who’s Steph and a full-brother to the multiple Stakes winner sold for 130,000gns to Stauffenberg Bloodstock Services.
