Afancy Getaway (Getaway) Impresses At Dromahane

Exciting Getaway Mare Bolts Up At Dromahane

Afancy Getaway (4m Getaway – Noras Fancy, by Brian Boru) emerged as an exciting prospect when bolting up on debut at Dromahane on Monday.

The Mary Doyle-trained newcomer was sent off favourite for the four-year-old mares maiden and raced prominently throughout under Brian Dunleavy. Five lengths clear by the second last, her advantage more than doubled by the final fence and the bay stayed on to score by 25 lengths.

Afancy Getaway was bred by Michael Dixon out of a half-sister to Cuteasafox, who is the dam of Grade 1 performer Firefox (Walk In The Park).

Grange Stud sire Getaway was responsible for another smart debut winner the following day, when A Path To Ronda (4f Getaway – Dusty Too, by Terimon) showed a good turn of foot in the mares’ bumper at Uttoxeter.

Jamie Snowden’s newcomer raced prominently in a field of 13 and quickened to lead from three furlongs out. Ridden approaching the final furlong, she kept on well under James Davies to score by two and a quarter lengths.

The promising mare is owned by Gary Gillies and was bred by Mrs Virginia McGrath.
